Indigenous Tourism BC’s (ITBC) Experience Development Team works closely with Indigenous communities and entrepreneurs throughout BC to support the development and enhancement of Indigenous destinations, tourism experiences and products.
ITBC works in collaboration with Destination BC and other partners by delivering programs for all stages of Indigenous experience and destination development:
Indigenous tourism matters to us all. Many Indigenous communities are choosing tourism as a path to social and economic development, cultural sharing and reconciliation. As the original inhabitants of this land, Indigenous hosts have been prepared since time immemorial to welcome visitors to this beautiful land in ways that respect and sustain natural abundance for all life. When we come together to learn from each other, we succeed.
Indigenous Tourism BC has partnered with four Regional Destination Marketing Associations to cohesively encourage the development of Indigenous destinations, experiences and products across British Columbia.
Each region works with an Indigenous Tourism Specialist who oversees the engagement with regional First Nations communities and entrepreneurs; implementation of priority projects; acquisition of content for marketing activities; and more.
